Cooking at Home, Tahoe Style

The North Shore has a few great restaurants, but options are limited and consistency quality can be lacking. Ambience is also a tough find as so many commercial and retail buildings are simply old and renovations are scarce. And, with seasonality making operating, staffing, and occupancy a challenge, tourists and locals alike find cooking at home the best way to enjoy their mealtimes. BBQ's, smokers, and outdoor cooking can make the experience feel a little like camping, maintaining the rustic flavor of grilling while cooking outside. Fire codes have required permits for operations like fire pits, and can order cooking devices not be used during Red Flag (wind) warnings in dry summer periods. Ski trips are nostalgic for homemade chili, roasts and other meat items. S'mores, the delectable treats of graham crackers, marsh mellows, and chocolate bars always add to the experience.

Grill it Up!

Natural gas cooking is the only permissible way to cook, except a wood pellet smoker. Charcoal is not allowed.

Fire pits make family gatherings a true Tahoe experience. Roast a marshmellow and share stories.
